Validation Registry entry

Specify what validation should occur when a term is entered into a column that uses the Thesaurus.

This Registry entry can be assigned to users and groups:

is a back-end column name; or use Default for all columns in the specified table(s).

Candidate

The Thesaurus is searched to determine whether or not this term is included. If the term is not in the Thesaurus, the user will be given the option to add the term. If they choose to add the term, it will be accepted for use, otherwise the user will be required to enter another term that is in the Thesaurus.

Relaxed

The Thesaurus is searched to determine whether or not this term is included. If the term is not in the Thesaurus, the user will be informed and asked whether they still wish to use the term:

  • If the user wishes to use the term, they can but the term is not added to the Thesaurus.
  • If the user does not wish to use the term, they will be required to enter another term.

Strict

The Thesaurus is searched to determine whether or not this term is included. If the term is not in the Thesaurus, the user will be informed that no match was found and they will be required to enter another term from the Thesaurus.

None

No validation is performed. The user can add / edit values without any entry being added to the Thesaurus.

Note: If this entry is not present, a setting of Strict is assumed.

To allow users to add new terms to the Thesaurus:
